So I read a very interesting article at Zerohedge, so interesting that I copied it and printed it.

The jist of the "interesting article" is that the combination of
1) Oil is getting harder to find and extract and
2) Lower oil prices
Will lead to a societal collapse and MadMax conditions in which you better own Gold.
stock here-- so a quick summary, but I urge you to read the whole article.
The EROI is a ratio of the Energy you get out of a "product" compared to the energy you have to use to make the product. So in the chart, he shows Oil and Gas EROI (without backup information nor citing a source, but lets keep going)

Then he charts existing energy sources in a chart. The takeaway is that he is showing Solar PV at less than 8.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The nuke cartel is particularly attacking solar, because solar it its death knell, cheaper, cleaner, no CO2.
notice this one jumping on the "climate meme"
https://bravenewclimate.com/2014/08/22/catch-22-of-energy-storage/#more-6460
They pretend that solar has a EROI of 1.6 to 3.9
NOW SOME FACTS -- The energy to create a solar panel is generated by the panel in about 8 months. PV efficiency per size is up, production efficiency is also way up.
Panels last around 30 to 35 years, and almost all have 25 year warranties.
So it should be very clear cut that solar has a EROI over 30
So rather than choosing the "Mad Max" option, why don't we choose solar, and quickly?
Too busy thinking that choosing Trump or
ReplyDeleteHilary is a choice....
If you choose not to decide you still have made a choice
Delete5. Probability and Statistics
DeleteBayes was right.
Nuclear will be with humanity as long as humanity wants a carbon free high power density energy source. The upside outweighs the downside.

Lucey, you know i have thoroughly debunked the "power density" meme, it means nothing.
DeleteWhat is carbon free about nuclear?... at least you could use the "low-carbon" semi-lie instead of the bold faced lie...
ReplyDeleteThe nuke cartel insists on lying, even when not necessary
DeleteNice stuff dear. Thanks for sharing it. I found some informative stuff on commercial solar ppa & solar panel installation company. Check it.
ReplyDeleteLatest & greatest on solar PV energy payback (a bit technical), there was a recent paper that put solar PV energy payback in the 1-2 year range (or less). Louwen & Sark, 2016.
